Princess Theatre

Torbay Road, Torquay, TQ2 5EZ, United Kingdom | Website

Venue Description

The Princess Theatre is situated on Torquay seafront and is the largest theatre in Torbay and South Devon. We are open all year round hosting a wide variety of entertainment from concerts to comedy, West End musicals to opera and ballet to plays. Not forgetting our annual Christmas pantomime and children's shows throughout the year. Breezes cafe-bar is open every day and boasts stunning views over Torbay and Torquay Marina. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything in between, they are perfect to visit whether you are coming to the theatre or not.

Accessibility

The Box Office has automatic doors to the left and a hearing loop installed. At the main foyer, there is a ramp to your left with an automatic door at the top. There is an access toilet to the right of the foyer. The stalls are accessed from the ground floor and contain a gentle slope. We have 4 spaces for wheelchair users who need to stay in their chair during the show, 2 with the option of a carer seat next to them, and 2 with carer seats directly in front or behind. Wheelchair users who prefer to transfer, should request an aisle seat when booking. After transferring, the wheelchair can be stored in the foyer area. Wheelchair users can gain direct access into the auditorium by requesting this from our box office. An access toilet is also available at this entrance. Our circle is located up stairs so we advise patrons with mobility issues to choose a seat in the stalls. We also benefit from an infra-red hearing system and headsets can be hired for a £5 refundable deposit

Accessible Performances

We offer access performances to the best of our ability and upon request. We tend to have an audio described performance during our pantomime each year.

Toilets

We have an accessible toilet located between Breezes and the main foyer and also one located near the wheelchair platform in the auditorium. Please note this toilet can be used before or after the performance and only during the show in an emergency. The access toilet in the foyer can be used at all times.

Staff

Our venue staff are happy to help with most access needs. Everybody is different and we prefer to treat people as individuals so please contact us to discuss how we can best help you.

Assistance dog facilities

Assistance dog exercise facilities

Our staff will be happy to take care of assistance dogs during a performance upon request. Whilst we have no dog exercise facilities inside the venue, we often take assistance dogs for a walk along the seafront if requested by their owner!
