This month in the December review round up we’re looking at some of the places recommended across the UK. If you’re new to Euan’s Guide or have recently started reviewing then we would like to extend a very warm welcome to you! We hope you enjoy our selection of highlights from December.

Places to eat

Sometimes during the colder weather having something to eat or drink in the company of friends is the best way to pass the time, and reviewer Msjay248 highly recommends Tarff Town and Country, giving the cafe 4.5 stars.

Msjay248 says, “Met a friend for lunch. Tasty food and home baking. Lots of locally made gifts, books, clothing, supplies for pets and animals, etc.” This review also includes some fantastic photos of the layout of the cafe and the accessible toilet, which let’s people know exactly what to expect before they arrive.

We also received a five-star review of The Botany restaurant in Glasgow from Kempster66. In terms of accessibility, this venue received top marks! The review said: “Easy access through the pub to the dining area at the back. Lots of room to move and best table is by the log fire.” This review looks very festive with a picture of the restaurant’s wood burning stove at the fireplace.

It sounds like a great place to meet friends on a cold December day.

Another restaurant in Glasgow this month was Ga Ga kitchen and bar. KarenMac awarded this the restaurant 4.5 star rating. Karen said: “Staff will put a ramp down to bridge the single step. Inside is ramped and no steps. Amazing staff and great food.”

Places to visit

This month we have a recommendation from Musem_Wanders to visit St Timothy’s Tuesday social club. “Helpful staff, delicious curry smell in the community hall. Played Uno and ate biscuits with Tuesday Social Club. There is also ping-pong and pool available to play and lunch is available for £1 between 10am and 2.15pm every Tuesday. The club itself is free to attend based in Sheffield.”

This reviewer also mentions the accessibility of the church building, along with some brilliant pictures of the inside of the church and accessible toilet. “Nice wide ramp into the church, two double doors to get through.” It sounds like a great place to meet people in the local area.

Tina Hodgkinson, a Euan’s Guide Ambassador went to visit Channel 5 studios in London earlier this month on behalf of Euan’s Guide for a feature on our Red Cord Cards. Tina points out in her review that the studios are not open to the public to visit. However, she points out some of excellent accessible facilities that enabled her to have a positive visit when talking about our Safer Toilets campaign. She said: “It is step free from the street into the building. There are two automatic doors.” Tina also mentions that the staff were very helpful during her visit. “The team is very committed to raising awareness around disability rights and accessibility. It was a really good experience. Thank you.”
