Focus on the Forum - March 2021

Spring cityscape in Euan's Guide colours.

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is well and staying safe whilst managing to spend some time outside whether that be on a daily walk or spending time in a local park or garden to get some fresh air. In this month’s forum blog, we have a variety of ideas of things to do whether it be online, in the kitchen or just sitting enjoying a good book. Whatever you choose to do I hope you can find something here that might be of interest, maybe even start a new hobby?

Celebration days

Although most celebration days feel quite different during lockdown it is still important to celebrate to mark the different times of the year and being able to spend time with family in whatever way possible. In the ‘other things to do’ section of the forum we have a selection of different Mother's Day ideas to allow you to celebrate safely but still be together. Mother's Day is on Sunday, the 14th of March this year. However you decide to celebrate even if perhaps your mum is no longer with you then perhaps you can celebrate with a close relative or do something in memory of a loved one. I hope you have a happy day whatever you decide to do. Go straight to this section of the form by clicking on this link Celebration Day ideas.

Easter Activities

Also in the ‘other things to do’ section of the forum are some ideas for celebrating Easter at home. Even although we might not be able to be altogether this year there are a whole range of activities that you can do in the safety of your own home. How about trying an Easter themed game of Scrabble, or a word search, an indoor Easter egg hunt or how about a family film night?

Perhaps you’d prefer to get creative in the kitchen. In the recipes section of the Forum we have some great Easter baking and cooking ideas from BBC Good Food. To go straight to the recipe section of the form just follow this link:

What to Watch

In the ‘what to watch’ section this month there are a selection of animal-based programmes. First up there is David Attenborough's ‘Life in Colour’. This program focuses on how wildlife uses the different colours of their skin or in nature to help to protect themselves from predators. Secondly, there is Chris Packham’s programme ‘Animal Einsteins’. This programme looks at the development of animal intelligence and how they can do many things that humans can do. It covers skills like communication mimicking and even facial recognition! If you prefer to stream the programmes that you watch then we have a selection of recommendations of films to watch on Netflix or Amazon. To go straight to this section just click on the link below:

Outdoor Activities

Geocaching is the ultimate outdoor treasure hunt! It is done using an app on your smart phone or tablet and uses your phones GPS to locate objects that people locally may have hidden for you to find. Once you have found a hidden box or container containing the geocache can log it in the app and leave it for the next person to find or maybe even hide your own for someone to find. Geocaching features in the ‘other things to do’ section of the Forum, follow this link to find out more:

Remember that we are still allowed to visit outdoor spaces whilst maintaining social distancing so if you have been on a local walk or visited a local outdoor space that you have enjoyed or found accessible then why not leave a review on Euan’s guide!
