Venue Description

Handel House Museum at 25 Brook Street, London was home to the great baroque composer George Frideric Handel from 1723 until his death in 1759. The only composer museum in London, this landmark address is where Handel composed some of the greatest music in history, including 'Messiah', 'Zadok the Priest' and 'Music for the Royal Fireworks'. The museum celebrates Handel's life and works, displaying portraits of Handel and his contemporaries in finely restored Georgian interiors and by bringing live music back to his house. Frequent music rehearsals, weekly concerts, Saturday Talks and regular exhibitions bring Handel's world to life. By strange coincidence, Jimi Hendrix lived in the attic flat in the building next door from 1968-69. The museum is currently working to make this a permanent exhibit which will open in early 2016.

Accessibility

Entrance to the museum is round the back in Lancashire Court which is a pedestrian walkway with cobbled stone paving. The museum has level access to all floors.
