Overview
The City Hotel is in Lauriston Place and is not the easiest to find but was worth hunting out.
Transport & Parking
Arriving by public transport was easy as I was able to catch a bus to Lauriston Place. Once off the bus the challenge began for me as a visually impaired person to find the entrance to the hotel. Although the building fronts on to the main street all the entrances on that road are not in use. You have to go down a side road, through and archway, cross the car park and then you can go in the main entrance. Fortunately, I was with a companion who helped me find the way in.
Access
Access in and around the building: Once I was in the main door finding my way around the building was much easier than finding the building. The wide and bright corridors made getting around easier as a I followed my companions. Access in the accessible bedrooms and bathrooms: The accessible bathroom was fine for me. It was well lit and sufficient contrast to be useful. Access in the dining area: The dining room was just off the reception area. The tables and chairs were well set out and easy to navigate. Access to other facilities: The bar area was open plan and easy to get to. A variety of seating was available.
Toilets
There was an accessible toilet off the bar area.
Staff
