Overview
This was my first time at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and for a pop up venue I was a little unsure what to expect. I was delighted to see how accessibe and step free the venue was. It's like a little village. There are several buildings which are all connected by a covered walkway, there's a bookshop and cafe/ bar and plenty of places to sit. The Euan's Guide ambassadors visited for drinks and ice cream.
Transport & Parking
There are several buses that stop nearby and the tram is a 5 - 10 minute walk away.
Access
The venue is step free, there are some covered pathways and seating areas, which was very lucky as it rained while we were there. There is a nice cafe/ bar area. We were quite a large group and we found space for us to sit and chat. It made for a relaxing day out.
Toilets
I didn't use them but there are accessible and a Changing Places toilet.
Staff
Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is a nice space to come and spend time. Well worth a visit and the festival have worked hard to make it inclusive and accessible to all. Well done, other venues could learn from this example. Wished I could ahve spent more time there, hopefully back next year.
