Wheelchair-accessible pub with an accessible but unsatisfactory toilet, good food, and friendly staff.

Transport & Parking

The pub is very near Crossharbour DLR Station, which is - like all DLR stations - fully step-free. I wouldn't try parking in the area.

Access

The entrance into the pub is negotiable in a wheelchair, but the large metal ridge of the door is quite tricky to get over. Once you're inside, the ground floor, although crowded with comfy furniture, is reasonably easy to navigate.

Toilets

The accessible toilet was disappointing. See my photo below. (1) There was no toilet paper and the double toilet-paper-dispenser was hanging wide open (2) The red emergency cord was MUCH too short, it hung about as far as chest height if you're standing up. This is wrong and dangerous. This cord should reach all the way to the floor so that it can be reached in the event of someone falling over in the often precarious transfer from wheelchair to toilet and back. This is really putting people in serious danger.

Staff

Staff are friendly but food service is slow and erratic, we were not impressed that two tables got their food before us although they arrived a long time after us and had the same choices of food. When I asked for some toilet paper, the barman was friendly and quick to run upstairs and fetch me some, but didn't want to put it in the dispenser for me, and didn't seem to take seriously my comments about their having the red emergency cord much too short.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The food was good and reasonably priced. Overall I recommend this pub. If you find the red emergency cord is *still* too short when you visit, *please* hassle the staff about it, it's completely unacceptable for them to put people in danger with this.
