VE Day 75th Anniversary
“To those who gave so much, we thank you.” From the 8-10 May, visitors to The Royal Yacht Britannia can enjoy a 1940s-themed weekend to commemorate 75 years since the end of World War II and the arrival of peace in Europe. At 3pm on Friday 8 May, a lone piper will stand tall at Britannia’s bow to play Battle’s O’er, a traditional air performed on the bagpipes at the end of a battle. Throughout the weekend World War 2 veterans will receive free admission and we’ll have 1940s music playing throughout the State Apartments, plus a special celebratory fudge available in our onboard NAAFI.
