After two years of Covid restrictions and the ongoing pandemic, we’re delighted to see that 2022 has been a great year for review submissions! We’re so thankful to everyone in our community who has taken the time to leave a review.

We’ve taken a team vote and chosen our 2022 Volunteer of the Year, Reviewer of the Year and Loo Star of the Year – read on to find out who’s been selected.

We really hope you’re able to get out and about in 2023 and continue supporting us with your reviews. Remember, just one review can give someone else the confidence to try somewhere new.

Write a review.

Volunteer of the Year - Tina Hodgkinson

Not only has Tina written 350 reviews for EuansGuide.com, 41 of them this year, she’s a fantastic advocate on Twitter. We’re in touch on the Twittersphere most days! From sharing her own reviews on our website to our Safer Toilet campaign and retweeting our own Tweets, Tina is an active supporter on social media.

Tina’s also started volunteering for other media coverage, most recently appearing on Channel 5 News to talk about red emergency cords and why it’s so important to make sure they’re kept free and hang to the floor.

We asked Tina about her volunteering for Euan’s Guide. She said: “It’s supportive and this has helped me to grow in confidence both as a disabled woman and as an Ambassador, and this has enabled me both on a personal level and as a volunteer to do things, in my case writing articles or having the courage to raise access issues directly with venues when I visit them, neither of which I would have considered when I first started out as a volunteer.”

Reviewer of the Year – @disabledtraveler

Our top reviewer simply must be @disabledtraveler who has written a whopping 200 reviews in 2022! @disabledtraveler reviews loads of places across the UK and each one is packed full of detailed information on disabled access as well as the venue in its entirety, and always with photos to go alongside the different points being made. The dedication and time spent on each review doesn’t go unnoticed and we know how beneficial in-depth reviews are to our community.

Here are a few of @disabledtraveler’s reviews if you want to grab a cuppa and have a look.

Loo Star of the Year – @Disabled_Eliza

@Disabed_Eliza has been a huge advocate of our Safer Toilets campaign, sharing videos on Instagram and TikTok which get thousands of views. Eliza’s videos are of their visits to accessible toilets, with a particular focus on red emergency cords. Eliza untangles them and attaches a Euan’s Guide Red Cord Card, explaining why it’s necessary to leave the cord hanging freely to the floor. These videos often go viral, raising awareness of why it’s so important to let the red cord hang freely to the floor.

Thank you for your support, Eliza - here’s to setting more red cords free in 2023!
