Experience accessible live theatre at The Old Vic this summer

We're pleased to partner with The Old Vic to share accessibility information at the famous London theatre, in this promotional blog post.

Following recent improvements, The Old Vic is now more accessible than ever. There is a step-free entrance on Waterloo Road with lift access to the Box Office, inner foyer, Penny bar and cafe and stalls level of the auditorium. Once inside the auditorium there are up to 10 wheelchair spaces at every performance, including gaps that allow for two wheelchairs to be positioned side-by-side.

The theatre’s next production is Tinuke Craig’s five-star revival of Jitney, August Wilson’s (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom) groundbreaking modern classic exploring the fragile bond between eight men as they live, love and work in a racially segregated, post-Vietnam America.

Jim Becker and his unlicensed drivers take the people of Pittsburgh Hill District where regular taxi cabs won't – healing old wounds and tearing new ones as they pass the time in a condemned taxi rank between pick-ups.

Performances run from 9 June until 9 July, with evening performances at 7.30pm and Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. There are also the following access performances, which are open to all:

BSL performance: Monday 20 June, 7.30pm
Relaxed performance (also audio described and captioned): Saturday 25 June, 2.30pm
Captioned performance: Monday 27 June, 7.30pm
Audio described performance: Friday 1 July, 7.30pm (Touch Tour, 5.30pm)
