Dudley Canal Tunnel and Limestone Mines

Birmingham New Road, Tipton, DY1 4SB, United Kingdom | 0121 557 6265 | Website

Venue Description

See the network of underground canal routes that helped form the industrial Black Country and marvel at the fantastic Limestone Caverns. We offer family, group, school and corporate boat trips along the Dudley Canal. Enjoy a 45 minute trip through the network of tunnels and limestone caverns, or meander the waterways of the Black Country on a longer 2-hour, 3-hour or 6-hour journey. We cater for over 80,000 passengers per year and any trading surplus is given annually to Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust who use these funds to help maintain the Tunnel and Dudley Canal and it's environment.

Accessibility

Step free access to the towpath is available via a platform lift or sloping path. We have one accessible boat which can accomodate one large or two smaller wheelchairs, by means of a raised platform that allows level access from the towpath into the boat. This boat usually operates once an hour; please phone us before you visit to find out what times it will run. The main ticket office is located within the building on the lower floor, accessible by a platform lift or spiral staircase.
