Overview

I felt very happy staying here the ramped access and open plan layout made it very easy to get round in my wheelchair and walker. Having a wetroom and bathroom sink at wheelchair height was great. The bathroom was big enough to manoeuvre a chair in and the owners also provided the option of a shower chair or shower wheelchair. There were handy grab rails in the bedroom too. The decking at the rear had a small ramp so that you could access it from the house and there was plenty of room to get my wheelchair up to the table etc. The main attraction for me was the sheer number of wheelchair accessible walks literally from the garden gate. I was spoilt for choice and have never stayed anywhere with so many accessible paths before. Even the village shop is mainly wheelchair accessible. The place felt quite liberating and I was sorry to leave. If you’re a wildlife lover it’s perfect, on the first night we were treated to see roe deer at the bottom of the garden gate, there was also a red squirrel that visited everyday and further afield there were badgers, capercaillies, herons, and osprey to name a few. My only small complaint is that it was a tight squeeze to get my off-road wheelchair through the front door. It could be done but just carefully however I’m sure this wouldn’t be a problem for a standard width wheelchair. To enter the back garden, you had to go round form the front of the house as there was no ramp from the decking at the back on to the garden. The back gate is slightly tricky to close especially from a wheelchair and I think that the slab that had acted as a ramp has shifted over time making it harder to get onto the path. We tried to chock it up using a rock but it wasn’t a huge problem. The neutral colours and lack of clutter was appreciated by my autistic child.
