Overview
Access is generally excellent for a wheelchair user, with either level or flat access all but only small parts of the hotel and restaurants. Staff were incredibly helpful. The only let down for us was the bathroom in our room. It was a level roll in shower but pretty tight for us. A wet room would make it a 5 star review.
Transport & Parking
Great. They let us park very close to an entrance which was close to our room. Public transport wise, the Gleneagles train station has great access since the Ryder Cup refurbishments. From there, the hotel staff will come and pick you up in a minibus.
Access
Our room was fantastic with a huge amount of space to move around, plus pleasingly, a socket next to the bed for charging wheelchair and equipement. Generally access throughout the hotel was excellent. Most of the action is all on the ground floor, which is all accessible. We ate in the Strathearn restaurant which had very straightforward access and an accessible loo nearby. There Deseo restaurant has partial access and is a bit more cramped, but staff were great which meant it was fine.
Toilets
The only disappointment for us was the bathroom in our room. The shower is level and so you can roll in but it was tricky for us as it was tight to be in there with a carer. It was also quite tight getting past the bath to the shower. A wet room would be much easier and make the experience a lot better.
Staff
Staff were tremendous, very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We had a hospital bed and portable hoist delivered for the night from an agency. The portable hoist wasn't very stable at all. Would be absolutely fantastic if Gleneagles would be prepared to put in a track ceiling hoist!
