Overview

Harbour Guest House is at the Distillery end of the stunningly picturesque and very colourful Tobermory Harbour. I loved my visit. Fabulous small guest house directly on the harbour, with super helpful and lovely staff, very comfortable accessible room with charming harbour view, delicious breakfasts that set you up for the day and level walking distance to the attractions of Tobermory. The guest house has 2 ground floor bedrooms. It exceeded my wish list for what I hoped for when I stayed on Mull.

Transport & Parking

5

The Harbour Guest House is at the Distillery end of the harbour and the local bus stops close by. There is plenty of car parking spaces on the harbour, including a car park a couple of minutes walk away, but not sure how easy it would be to get a space near the guest house in the busy summer months, so would suggest if bring a car to contact the accommodation in advance for advice.

Access

4.5

The guest house has two manual doors at the entrance. Most of the day the outer door is left open and guests are required to use their key to open the inner door. When you first arrive, if you come outside of the hours that staff are there, sorry I can't remember the times, you are sent instructions on how to access your key from a key safe box, which corresponds to your room number and is located by the entrance. It is level entry into the small reception area with desk and to the two harbour facing ground floor bedrooms. Room 1 is a family suite with a step into the shower and no grab rails, and Room 2 my room. ROOM 2 Room 2 is an accessible room with a double bed and views which I loved looking out onto the harbour. The room is beautifully furnished with high quality furniture. There's a double bed with bedside tables, with draws. There is a large double doored wardrobe and another bedside table with draws next to it with the hospitality tray with kettle, mugs, tea, coffee, milk and delicious biscuits. There's a TV. The en suit bathroom had a toilet with a single grab rail, sink, bath with shower over and no other grab rails. I knew before I booked I would not be able to access the bath, but as I could safely access the toilet and everything else was perfect for my needs I did not see it as a problem. The towels are excellent quality and so soft. BREAKFAST ROOM I didn't realise until I got there that the breakfast room is on the first floor, accessible only by steps with handrails both sides. However staff informed me that they happily serve breakfast in your room if you do not want to use the stairs. The breakfast room looks out towards the back of the building. There are free standing tables and chairs, as well as a couple of sofas near the window. There is a table with self service breakfast items and cooked breakfasts, which are made to order are brought to your table.

Staff

When I arrived as it was after 6pm, I used the key safe to gain access. My room was ready and beautifully laid out and was cleaned daily. I first met the staff at breakfast. I received a warm welcome. All my meeting with the different staff were very warm and friendly. Very helpful and answered any questions I had. I left my Kindle at the guest house and they posted it back to me. Thank you Sophie :)

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Breakfasts are delicious and generous. Each day there is a new menu card in your bedroom (sorry forgot to photograph it) and you tick off what food you want for breakfast the next morning and what time you want breakfast to be served. There is a good choice of breakfast food including vegetarian options. I was visiting Mull as part of a minibus tour, where travellers could choose their own accommodation or have it booked by the tour company. Our driver dropped the travellers who were staying away from the harbour first and then drove down into the harbour. If you are not staying on the harbour it is a very steep hill to the harbour, where the shops and restaurants are. Most of the people on our tour who were staying away from the harbour found the walk up the steep hill difficult, most got a taxi back after their first experience, and one person commented that they found going down difficult as well. I saw the hill for myself and I was so thankful I was in the harbour as I would not have managed it. If you are wanting the freedom to just pop outside when you feel to explore the harbour and visit the shops and restaurants with ease, please consider staying on the harbour, and I can highly recommend the Harbour Guest House. I would return in a heartbeat. I love the accommodation and its impressive location.
