Overview

When we arrived at Kings Cross at lunchtime from Edinburgh, we were met by LNER staff, who had been forwarded our details at our point of departure. Our luggage and us were taken and escorted to the left luggage office, which enabled us to utilise our London Pass, then check in to our Hotel in the evening. We were given great directions and information by their staff, could not fault them in any way. This was the same 3 days later on our return journey and arrival at Edinburgh. Did not use any of the outlets in the Station hub, but there were ample lifts, escalators to the upper food outlets.

Transport & Parking

Although we could have used the First Class lounge on arrival and departure we had no need to. First Class Service to London for us beats air travel from Edinburgh anytime, no changes, transfers and waiting for just one of the various links in the chain to have a delay or cancellation. There was a rail strike that affected Heathrow. The underground from Kings Cross superb, but busy, congested and fast. Suggest you use your direct debit card for travel as a contactless payment, there were problems with machines taking Oyster Travel Cards and the ticketing machines were busy with long queues.

Access

A massive, wide and spacious concourse, ample lifts, plenty seating.

Toilets

Did not use them but there as visible signage for toilets, lifts and other services.

Staff

Whilst they are the same staff now working for a different operator, could not fault LNER staff, the info point staff for London Transport or those involved with the Underground.

Whilst everyone is different, the train far outweighs the plane in respect of this type of journey, No problems with Rhona’s mobility trolley, no invasive, delaying security checks, simple access.
