Overview
Doing the best possible with an Historic building. Large heavy internal doors to negotiate but staff on hand to assist.
Transport & Parking
Free disabled parking available to rear of Museum approx 200m from front entrance via level pavements. Required to collect an exit token from shop (show blue badge) which is a bit fiddly to handle.
Access
Lift access into and around building. Internal lifts quite narrow but ok for my power chair. Main glass lift access seems to breakdown regularly. If so, go to gate at left of steps and buzz for assistance.
Toilets
Changing places facilities and disabled toilets available but need to take lift to basement cafe to access. Additional accessible loo hidden away at back of 4th floor main gallery space - assistance needed to access two sets of doors and may be inaccessible at times when displays being changed.
Staff
Staff generally happy to help with info and with heavy internal doors.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Fantastic collection of Impressionist art (and other periods). Also temporary art exhibits, Home to Annual ' Artes Mundi.' Evolution exhibition appeals to kids. Great hands-on activities for children too in Clore gallery. Gallery shop & Coffee shop on entrance floor and larger cafe in basement with easy access. All FREE.
