Overview

Before planning our visit I contacted the visitor centre to enquire about cost of admission and Did they do a carer ticket. The person I. Spoke with was helpful and told me how to get the carer ticket when booking online.. upon arrival we parked in the main car park which has two blue badge spaces , but if these are full then you can drop off near the entrance. The car park is gravel so not easy for those people in a wheelchair or with mobility’ issues. We had been advised not to bring my scooter as this might not fit through the chapel doorway. Entry to the reception , shop and cafe all on one level with automatic doors. When booking your tickets you choose a time slot they do a number of tours each day. You are free to look around the outside. And inside before the talk given by the tour Guide. The only issue was that the outside is again gravel so not easy to go over to look around the outside and to get to the chapel entrance.. You get a leaflet explaining many of the main features of the chapel. Entry to the. Chapel is through a doorway which leads to the main chapel down a wooden ramp. It’s a flagstone floor so a bit bumpy in places getting round inside was easy enough and there are plenty of information boards as well. The talk given by the guide was very informative and they were happy to answer any questions . We had a lovely afternoon visit and also stopped for a hot drink and cake in cafe afterwards. The cafe was easy to get around and the staff great. We placed the order at the counter and they brought it over to us at our table.. We would. Visit again . As I’m sure we’ve missed seeing some of the stonemasons work. There’s just too much to take in on one visit,

Access to shop, cafe and chapel are good shop and cafe all on one level, space to get around with the wheelchair. Automatic doors to entrance to get tickets. Access to chapel entrance is across gravel not easy with a wheelchair. Getting inside the chapel is good there’s a ramp down into the main body of the chapel, but you can’t access the crypt as this is stairs.
