Overview
This is a great little swimming pool in the South Mainland of Shetland with great disabled access.
Transport & Parking
Fantastic accessible parking directly in front of the entrance to the swimming.
Access
The swimming pool was well signposted from the street and had good signage to let people know how to get in and out of the building. There is a sign in reception advising to ask staff if you need help. The main entrance has an automatic door opening system for ease of access. Once inside, everything was on one level and quite spacious. There is a hoist for use in the accessible changing area and to get in and out of the pool.
Toilets
The toilets had everything I needed. There is a large changing table which can be brought down from the wall and plenty of grab rails etc, as well as a ceiling hoist.
Staff
The staff were helpful and allowed me to have a little look around the facilities. They were only too happy to help and offered a warm welcome.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is also a little astro turf play-park next to the swimming pool. I'm not sure if this is open to the public, but it might be worth looking into if travelling with children.
