Accessible train station
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid
An accessible train station that needs a few tweaks to make access even better but is definitely usable for those with mobility difficulties.
Transport & Parking
We got the train here from another station and then had a short walk to the Bullring but there are bus stops on the road outside the station. There is no car parking immediately outside the station but Moor Street Car Park is close by.
Level access to main entrance (the only one we used). This is a small station of 4 platforms that is fairly easy to find your way around and there are screens showing the upcoming trains at all platforms at the main entrance. There is lift access to the platforms and you come out the lifts at the opposite doors to the ones you went in so you don't have to turn around. There is an accessible ticket barrier. The one problem we had was that the platform we arrived at (I think it was 2) seemed to send us further around than necessary to the entrance and it seemed a long way on crutches.
We didn't use the toilets on this visit but I know there are accessible toilets from previous visits.
We didn't talk to any staff or need any help at the station.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There are quite a few benches at the station (with backs, some have arms at the sides, some don't) and when we arrived at the station and were walking to the entrance we did go past several benches. It can be difficult to find a seat at busy times but that wasn't a problem on this visit.
