Venue Description

Our Lake View Ghyll Head Bungalow sleeps up to 23 people and is set in the grounds of our Outdoor Education Centre near Bowness On Windermere in the Lake District National Park. We have 17 acres of grounds leading on to a network of footpaths connecting to the surrounding fells. With stunning mountain views from the grounds and a number of activity options in the local area, it would make the ideal self-catered or fully-catered accommodation for you with your family and friends. . We can also offer a full activity programmes for guests of ALL abilities. All activities are adapted and inclusive meaning no one will miss out! The choice and flexibility is yours. Accommodation is open and level. The kitchen is very usable for self catered groups or we can provide food to make your holiday easier. Tesco will do deliveries. We have a car park with level access to the entrance of the property. There is a profiling bed as well as a hoist and shower table. This is an ideal base for a family holiday or school/youth trip and we look forward to welcoming you here.

Accessibility

To help your stay be more comfortable in the bungalow we have 2 mobile hoists, a profiling bed, shower table and adapted mini bus. Access is level into and around the bungalow with access paths around the site. The design of the build was for visitors with mobility difficulties so doors are wide and 2 bathrooms are wet rooms. There is a rail at the ramped door entrance. There are grab rails in the bathrooms and a shower tray. We have loo adapted equipment and a selection of slings for use with the hoists but guests ideally should bring their own. There is a games room and separate meeting space. At the boat house we have an access path with a rail and changing room and shower facility ideal if cold after a lake session. We have a lift to access all floors and a manual and lake side lift to access any boat on the water. Loop slings needed. We have accessible activities and can offer zip wire and climbing on site, canoeing, sailing, archery and orienteering. Off site we can offer Cathedral cavern exploration, Yordas cave trip, local walks and Grizedale Forest orienteering We have an adapted mini bus should you need this for activities We have symbols and signs that can support communication needs and our staff are trained and experienced to work with guests that have additional needs.

Yes the bungalow has two bathrooms that can accommodate a hoist and power chair. There are grab rails and non slip floors.
