    Functional but dated

I stayed in an accessible room at Birmingham Central Travelodge. The room was the standard Travelodge layout — a little dated but functional, with enough space to move around. The accessible bathroom was large with good turning space, and the emergency red cord was present and hanging freely with a card attached. There were a few practical access issues. There were no plug sockets near the bed, so I could not use my CPAP and had to unplug the heater to charge my wheelchair. One of the two lifts was out of order, and the remaining lift worked but was very slow, which added time and uncertainty when moving between floors. The biggest difficulty was the night‑time noise. Loud music from nearby clubs, crowds outside, and cars revving and backfiring continued until around 5am, making it very hard to sleep even with the windows closed. There is no hotel parking, but the surrounding on‑street parking is pay‑and‑display and therefore free for Blue Badge holders, which is helpful if you’re driving. Overall, the hotel was usable from an access perspective, but the combination of noise, dated features, and limited plug access made the stay less comfortable than it could have been. --- Key access points future guests may want to know • Accessible room: Standard Travelodge layout; dated but functional with reasonable circulation space. • Bathroom: Large, good turning space, and a correctly hanging red emergency cord. • Power access: No sockets by the bed; charging mobility equipment required unplugging the heater. • Lifts: One lift broken; the other operational but slow. • Noise: Very loud nightlife noise (music, crowds, cars) until around 5am. • Parking: No hotel car park, but nearby on‑street parking is free for Blue Badge holders.

    Great service

On arrival the receptionist noticed that I was disabled and arranged a room on the lowest floor possible. He went through lots of detail to make sure I was comfortable.
