Accessible but no carer tickets

Overview

The theatre is pretty accessible with a lift and one disabled toilet - their attitude to carer tickets is a flat 'no' and staff are generally good with some exceptions. The downstairs pub/bar is accessible.

Transport & Parking

1

Parking on street outside or in the Aldi car park round the corner (beware charges).

Access

The theatre has a fairly steep ramp and two sets of old double doors to get in. There is a lift to the first floor where the bar and auditorium is; the first floor is completely level. Due to the layout of the theatre (moveable raked seating) the only level access seats are in the front row. Staff will happily remove seats to create a wheelchair space or reserve front row seats for disabled patrons and carers. We think they have no excuse not to offer free carer tickets as a matter of principle.

Toilets

3

In the theatre there's just one unisex disabled toilet right next to the gents, no radar key and often used by blokes when there's a queue for the gents in the interval.

Staff

4

Usually excellent. We once had a problem with one staff member's attitude but complained to the management who were really good about it (that member of staff turned out to be only temporary anyway).

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I can't comment on accessibility other than for mobility impairments. Not sure if they have a hearing loop or anything.
