Venue Description

GUARDSWELL FARM | VENUE + SPACES | HUTS + HOUSES | COOKERY + RURAL + CRAFT WORKSHOPS | Guardswell Farm is a 150-acre grassland farm situated on a south facing hillside, between Abernyte and Kinnaird, Perthshire. With panoramic views extending from North of Dundee, along the River Tay, over to the North of Fife, down to the Carse of Gowrie and all the way along to Glencarse; we feel a bit mean keeping it all to ourselves. Guardswell is a secret getaway, shared with those who want to fully immerse themselves into her simple and bygone ways. Wholesome holidays, stopping to watch the birds, investigating the wild flowers, lifting your eyes from your book to look at the view. Food cooked on the fire tastes better, wine under the stars is remembered, and free range children are the best sort. That's a "STAY" at Guardswell Farm. We love relaxed and fun events and weddings. Branches hanging from the ceiling, old vases filled with floppy flowers, plates piled high with locally grown food. Dancing with your shoes off in the grass under the festoon lights. Munching on midnight pizza from the wood oven. Sleeping under the stars and waking to the smell of breakfast cooked on the fire pit. We host our own wild brunches and farm lunches, tables shared with others and conversation to remember. Family camping weekends, holistic escapes, you name it- we'll try it. Thats a "PLAY" at Guardswell Farm. Spoon Carving, Back Yard Hen Care, Preserving and Foraged Floristry. What do you want to learn? What did your grandmother know how to do without thinking, that you haven't the foggiest about? Our workshops are fun and engaging... with as much tea and cake as you can stomach! Thats a "LEARN" at Guardswell Farm.

Accessibility

Arrival: Guardswell is situated on a single track road between Kinnaird and Abernyte. The farm drive is compact gravel, and has a large metal sign that reads "Guardswell Farm" at the bottom of it. The main entrance to the Steading/Venue faces you as you reach the top of the drive. Disabled parking spaces are situated to the right hand side of the drive, opposite the main entrance. Please be aware that due to topography, the car parking spaces are as close to level as they possibly could be, but not 100% level. There are 3 spaces in total. There is a sloped path that leads to the main entrance- it is constructed of level cobble stones and has two 1m level areas at intervals down that path. Outside of the main door is a large 3m x 3m paved area. Customers can also be dropped off at this point, prior to the car being parked, and should drive alongside, or reverse up to the level paving. Entrance: The main door is distinguished by the placing of plant pots and items around it- it also has two large sliding doors and overhead lighting. The main door is large- at around 1.5m wide, and it is a "push" to get in. Once inside the top level flooring is polished concrete. Inside: We have a sizeable wheelchair platform lift behind the living wall, on the left hand side as you go in the main door. As well as the lift, we have a long ramp that leads to the lower level of the Steading. The Steading is on two distinct levels- the top is majority polished concrete, with the Granary being a wooden floor. The bottom level (the Cattle Court) is wooden flooring. There are doors leading onto a large area of concrete, which is covered, at the front of the building, which allow for viewing outside without being exposed entirely to the elements. We do not currently have an indiction loop installed. Our "Accessible" page for the website is currently under construction.

Toilets

We have two accessible toilets at Guardswell Farm. One is located on the lower level of the Steading building and the other is located on the upper level of the Steading. The upper level toilet complies with Perth and Kinross council building standards. The lower level toilet is much larger with space either side of the loo for any additional help that may be required.

Staff

Friendly and always with a smile- please ask if you have any questions or require any assistance.

Assistance dog exercise facilities

We have a number of areas out-with fields that can be used for allowing assistance dogs to exercise. However, as we are a working farm, we ask that all dogs are kept on leads when in fields with livestock.
