Accessibility

It’s important to us that you enjoy a warm welcome when you visit us and we’re proud to have been named one of the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatres in 2015 (UK Theatre Awards - Regional Winner for Yorkshire and Humberside). Located on Tudor Square, in the heart of Sheffield City Centre, both the Crucible and Lyceum are easily accessible for all. There are level entrances to the main foyers and lift access to each floor. There are also spaces in each auditorium for wheelchair users, which can be booked by calling the Box Office (not currently available online), as well as a number of seats which benefit from level access. For customers with limited mobility, our Box Office team can advise on the best areas to sit, including whether there are any steps to navigate. Accessible toilets are located in both buildings (with baby change facilities available in both the men’s, women’s and disabled toilets). The main Box Office, located in the Crucible, features a lower counter and is fitted with a hearing loop. Across our season of productions, we offer a wide range of accessible performances to ensure an enjoyable experience for all customers. On most productions, we offer Audio Described, Sign Language Interpreted and Captioned Performances and additionally, we often offer Touch Tours of the set preceding the performances for Visually Impaired customers. We’ve highlighted the performances on which these facilities are available on the book tickets listing for each show. We recommend that when booking to use our access facilities you speak to a member of our Box Office team who can ensure that any relevant equipment is reserved for you and that you are in the best position in the auditorium. On selected productions, we also offer Relaxed Performances – open to everyone and specifically adapted for people with learning disabilities and other sensory and communication needs. We are proud to be a Dementia Friendly organisation and as part of our regular programme, we offer a monthly Dementia Friendly Tea Dance which is bookable through the Box Office. Large-print, Braille and Audio versions of our brochure are available on request from the Box Office. The Audio Brochure is available on CD, or alternatively can be found online here. For more information about our accessible performances or to speak to our team about accessible tours of the building, please call us on 0114 249 6000 or email access@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
