The Royal Society is a Fellowship of many of the world's most eminent scientists and is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence. The Society’s fundamental purpose, reflected in its founding Charters of the 1660s, is to recognise, promote, and support excellence in science and to encourage the development and use of science for the benefit of humanity. The Society has played a part in some of the most fundamental, significant, and life-changing discoveries in scientific history and Royal Society scientists continue to make outstanding contributions to science in many research areas. Accessibility
There are four steps from street level to the doorway. There is a wheelchair lift at the entrance which is operable by reception staff. Please use the buzzer to the right of the entrance steps. If you would like a wheelchair space at an event, please contact us in advance so that we can ensure it is reserved for you, and arrive at least twenty minutes before the start of the event. For our public events that operate on a first-come first-served basis, we have a limited number of bookable seats for people with impaired mobility who would be unable to queue.

St James' Park is just opposite us (about a 5 minute walk). Dogs are permitted in most areas of the park except: - The Memorial Gardens (in front of Buckingham Palace) - The fenced-off grass area around the perimeter of the lake Additionally, they must be kept on a lead in the following areas: - The footpath around the perimeter of the lake - The Horse Guards parade ground.
