We’re delighted to see Euan featured in the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 List in 2021.

Euan is number 8 in The Top Ten of the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 List and also topped the list for the Science category through his work with SpeakUnique.

Euan co-founded Euan’s Guide in 2013 with his sister Kiki. Euan is a powerchair user, so he knows all about the challenges of trying to find new and accessible places to visit. Euan's Guide is almost eight years old and it's where disabled people, their families, friends and carers can find and share reviews on the accessibility of venues around the UK and beyond. The website shares thousands of experiences and is the go-to tool for many disabled people.

SpeakUnique creates personalised synthetic voices for individuals who have lost or will lose the ability to verbalise.

Euan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2003. With backgrounds in investment, Euan and his father approached MND researchers at the University of Edinburgh three years later and went on to establish the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research. At the start of 2020, the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research launched MND-SMART, an innovative UK-wide clinical trial that aims to find treatments that will slow, stop or reverse the progression of motor neurone disease (MND).

Elsewhere, Euan's Guide featured in the Community Action category alongside Ambassador Jon Attenborough.

Euan had this to say on his inclusion in this year’s Power 100 list:

“While the last year has brought on even more extraordinary challenges, I am grateful to everybody who has managed to keep motivated and supportive.

“A big thank you in particular to all our Euan’s Guide volunteers, ambassadors and reviewers for your support and for sharing experiences during the lockdowns. I am excited to see the rise in Euan’s Guide activity again with even more reviews helping disabled people find great places to go.

“We are continuing to work hard on various initiatives that will transform lives at the Euan MacDonald Centre, SpeakUnique and Euan’s Guide. I am very much looking forward to what the future brings.”
