April Review Round up article image

Welcome to the April Review roundup. This month we have a great selection of reviews to share with you, from London museums to wildlife parks in Yorkshire. There’s something for everyone. If this is your first visit to Euan’s Guide then hello and welcome! We hope you are inspired to write your first review. If you have reviewed before then thank you for sharing your experience.

Places to visit

Many of our reviews have been out and about visiting some really interesting places. Finnberries has been to Shakespeare’s New Place in Stratford Upon Avon. The house and garden commemorate where Shakespeare’s family home and garden stood. “We entered through a fascinating garden area, which I could have spent ages looking at. There is a ramped path to the door of the house and then a lift so that I could get upstairs.”

Lifewithstripes shared their experience of the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The 4.5 star rating reflects the review title of ‘A wonderful place to visit’. “The polar bear enclosures are vast and were one of my favourite to visit as due to the walkway being elevated above the polar bears I managed to see them easily and was able to get some very clear photographs of them.” The photos in this review show what you can see during a visit, and a new changing places toilet makes it a must-visit for everyone!

Places to eat

Squirrel Pot had a five star experience at the Ole and steen cafe in London recently. This looks like a great place to visit if you are staying in the capital for a few days. “This café is an excellent place for wheelchair users to visit, has a perfect accessible toilet, and the food is supremely delicious.”

Jon Watkins also had a 4.5 star experience with his family when they went to The Woodsman restaurant in Aloa.”Went for an evening meal with friends. The table was adjusted to be suitable for my wheelchair. Food and drink both good and not long to wait.”

Fishworm rated The Wharf Pub with five stars. “We went here because we had two powerchairs in the party and we were told there was plenty of room to get around, which is true. Set on a lake with a large veranda and very helpful staff.” Both of these reviews have some fantastic photos included with them which helps everyone to get a feel for what it's like to visit the venue.

Places to stay

New reviewer Rona Topaz shared her experience of attending an event at the Cadogan Hotel which is part of the Belmond hotels group. “I have never been in a more accessible environment, where I felt the same as everyone else.: Rona has also included some great photographs of her day at the hotel within her review.

Review of the month - April

Our April review of the month goes to Finberries who wrote a fantastic review of Shakespeare's New Place in Stratford-upon-Avon. Finnberries gives a very detailed description of her trip with her family in each section of the review. This gives anyone visiting for the first time a chance to know how accessible the venue is in terms of each section of the review – overall, parking, toilets, staff, etc.

Reading just one review gives a disabled person the confidence to visit somewhere for the first time, and as much detail as possible and photographs can give an even better idea of what to expect. You can read the Review of the Month here.

This is just a small selection of the reviews that we have received this month. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a review on Euan’s Guide we really love reading them all.
