Overview
The synagogue is the biggest in the world outside of New York, and it is quite a sight to see! Access isn't perfect, but it's better than most places we briefly explored in the city.
Transport & Parking
Can't say much about parking, but public transport is good. The synagogue is in a very central location with lots of buses passing by.
Access
There is ramped access along the ground floors of the synagogue and museum and into the garden where the Tree of Life memorial is. There is lift access to the upper floors of the museum, but some of the galleries are split by steps. The museum is bright and light with nice interpretation panels at a good height. The synagogue is much more dimly lit, quiet and incredibly beautiful. There are flag markers so that you know where to sit to listen to information in your language.
Toilets
Toilets were signposted and there was a gradual ramp to the accessible loo, although I never used these so can't comment.
Staff
They would help if asked, but they weren't the most welcoming people we met in Budapest.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Men will be given a kippah to wear on entering the synagogue.
