Overview

Droitwich seemed to be ok, not a lot going for it, but interesting enough for a quick visit. We started by visiting the gardens around the open air lido, (photo 1) very tidy and well maintained with spring flowers just opening up (photo 2) and we found a pleasant little duck pond (3) with fishermen settled in for a long day. Following sat NAV we arrived at what turned out to be the public car park, 3 hours free for disabled, as not sure at first if this was the car park for small supermarket or for public use. The way down to St Andrews square looked inviting, (4) but there was a steep slope to get down, so applied brakes to help my wife hold back the wheelchair. The old sign for Droitwich looked interesting (5) which led past stores to toilets (6) The disabled seemed to be locked and could not see how to find anyone to get in, but it looked very small, and imagine it would have been very basic anyway (7) The square looked nice, surrounded by small local shops (8) and we did find a number of coffee shops, (9) so drinks would be easy enough to get hold of. We decided that we wanted to see a bit more of town area, so took the side passage down to Main Street (10) And turning right I was pushed up the hill passing old black and white buildings with quite a character about them (11) although we noticed the town was as most British places are neglected and such a shame to see the old inn falling apart (12). However, it led us to a small side street that promised more (13) and although character here, nothing else was (14), so we returned to the car park, with its real struggle to get up the slope from the square, and gladly left Droitwich behind us.

Transport & Parking

Bit complicated trying to find the car park on sat NAV, as not sure if this was public car park, or supermarket car park, but pleased to see its free parking for 3 hours for disabled. However, it’s quite a slope you have to get down for shopping centre, then that hard push up when you return.

Access

We started our visit at the car park for the lido and gardens, (photo 1) and it looked a very nice park, spring plants just opening up (2) and around the corner we found a duck pond with early morning fishermen already settle in for the day (3) then drove round via sat NAV directions to car park for shopping centre, free for disabled for 3 hours, bit it has a very steep slope to get down to shops (4) harder when you return for carer to push up.

Toilets

1.5

We found them, but could not get in to use them. It looked small from outside anyway, so quess it’s just a basic toilet.

Staff

Only met shop staff, and not impressed anyway.
