Before visiting the hotel for a wedding I phoned them to ask about wheelchair access, the staff were not very helpful and said there were stairs, I asked again specifically for information on wheelchair accessibility and was told there was a ramp to get in the conservatory but stairs to the function suites. No assistance was offered and information was limited. I’m a powerchair user but I have a manual chair I can use for short periods of time. There were many obstacles such as no accessible parking, chairs stacked infront of the ramp access door, and tight corners. It is a nice venue and if going on a quiet day for a meal in the conservatory it wouldn’t be too pribl

Ramp into the conservatory- not too steep, doorway has a large bump to get over and opening was obstructed by chairs which we had to move ourselves to get in and out. There are about 12 steps up to the function rooms and then another few steps. I had to get lifted up and down the stairs by friends and my wheelchair carried up separately- not ideal at all but this was for an important event. Floors are carpet

No disabled parking spaces, no lined spaces at all, very uneven ground
Accessible Toilets
Average
No accessible toilet upstairs. In the conservatory there was a good sized accessible toilet, clean and tidy, sink at good height but light is very high up.
Staff
Poor
The staff were not rude or anything, just mainly absent. There were no offers of assistance or support when I phoned the explain the situation, and while there being lifted up stairs etc the staff did not offer to help in any way. Luckily I had strong friends to help, but if I hadn’t then I wouldn’t have been able to attend. The catering staff working the wedding were polite, helpful and friendly, when I approached my table someone came and offered to take away the chair so I could get in.
Additional Information
I attended for a wedding and did not stay over or use the restaurant so my review is based solely on this, however I believe the rooms are upstairs. Improvements that could be made would be to fix the ground outside so it’s safer for both wheelchair users and anyone who is not steady on their feet. To bring down the bump in the accessible door and keep the area clear of obstructions. The stairway isn’t wide enough for a folding lift but a stairlift could be fitted. I think the staff could be more knowledgeable about accessibility and at least ask if there’s anything thet can do to assist disabled customers. It was a beautiful wedding and lovely rooms and it’s a shame many people with disabilities will be unable to attend events there
