Overview

The seafront path is accessible via several car parks which are in close proximity. The path itself is very smooth and wide with plenty of space to manoeuvre and meander; it also runs parallel with Nairn beach and there is a largely unimpaired view of the sea with plenty of seats at regular intervals in case you need or want to sit down. The full walk is about 3 miles in total, 1.5 miles there and back and takes in everything from the harbour, the fantastic waves, the beach, a bandstand, cafes, rock pools and old historic buildings. It is especially beautiful on a summer evening as the sun is setting. I recently spent an evening there admiring the contrast between the sun's golden light and the silver of the sea.

Transport & Parking

5

I have given the 5 stars for the parking as I have not experienced the public transport but Nairn is on the main bus and rail routes between Inverness and Aberdeen. Although there are frequent buses and trains, you would have to walk about half a mile from the train station to the walk and a quarter of a mile from the bus station. There are several car parks right beside the walk and there is usually plenty of space as well as several disabled parking spaces. I have never had a problem parking.

Access

4

The disabled access to and including the walk is very good, smooth, flat and spacious. There is one section where you would have to take extra care as there is a straight drop down to the beach of 5 or 6 feet on one side but this should not be a problem as the path is nice and wide. I have only given 4 stars however, as I feel that there could have been an accessible walkway made available onto and along the beach itself. Having said that, access for the walk itself is great.

Toilets

4

The accessible toilet was separate from the ladies and gents and needed a radar key to gain entry. It was close to the walk and easily accessed. The inside was very clean and spacious with grab rails and handlebars but there was no red cord which was the reason I did not rate it 5 star.

It's a great walk for taking in gorgeous views and breathing in the sea air. I'll definitely be back!
