Overview

A Fantastic Waterpark!! Siam Park in Tenerife is a brilliant day out. Spread out over a large site, landscaped with plants, you need to use the maps to find everything! It has a huge beach/wave pool, children's pools, a lazy river and a variety of flumes. Very popular place, so it surprised me that it didn't have better disabled access /facilities. I think these could be improved, so even more people can enjoy it.

Transport & Parking

Siam Park provides a regular free bus from the main tourist areas - it's a distinctive double decker, and the bus stop has the Siam Park symbol. The bus has two doors, the wider set in the middle of the bus would be most accessible if getting on in a wheelchair, the bus lowers to make this possible. There are disabled spaces and seats within the bus. However, these buses get extremely busy and can be quite a scramble to get onto. So, depending on your needs, you may consider whether or not this would be the best option. There are plenty of taxis around. There are also local buses which are green, and have the same door/access arrangement as the Siam bus. There is a small car park outside Siam Park, and the Siam Shopping Centre is nearby which has more parking. It's also possible you will be staying somewhere near the park, as Last Americas is one of the main tourist areas.

Access

Although the bus was accessible, and there were accessible toilets, this was all the disabled facilities I could find. There are lots of flumes at the park and I wasn't really expecting them to have great access for people with mobility difficulties, however there are other areas such as the beach/wave pool and lazy river, which I thought it would be much simpler to provide. A wheelchair which could go into the water for example, or hoist would be easy adaptations. There is also no discounted entry for people with disabilities (even though they may be unable to use much of the park), so at the very least this could be offered which would give people the option to go in with their friends/family even if they were going to be spectating more than participating. It is a very popular place, and is busy. Some people may find this overwhelming.

Toilets

There were several accessible toilets throughout the park. Although these were fine, it seemed a bit of a token gesture since there wasn't a lot of accessibility for the rest of the Park.

Staff

I was very impressed at the number of lifeguards there were at all areas of the Park and how attentive they were. In several places there are lifeguards actually standing in the water, not just looking on from a distance. The park is extremely clean, considering how many people visit it, there is no rubbish or anything left lying about. There are staff cleaning constantly. All staff I spoke to were helpful.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Siam Park is an amazing waterpark, and there are lots of positive things to say about it! I think with a little more awareness some additional facilities could be put in place to make it more accessible for people with disabilities. If you go - go early! Then get a locker, and find yourself some sunlongers as soon as you arrive - people claim them quickly. At the Park they have an offer where during your visit, you can buy another ticket (for a second visit) for half price. You have to use this within 2 weeks. So if you are planning on going more than once during your holiday, this is a good deal. You can only get this offer when you are at the Park.
