Overview

If you can make it it the top of the hill (and it really isn't that hard - the path winds gently round the edge) you are rewarded by stunning views of the Cheviots in the distance as well as the sea. There's good parking and the paths are smooth for the most part. There's an out and back route on the Tarmac path. However if you're a bit more adventurous and your wheels are up to it - go down the hill on the far side. This takes you down to the pond and then onto the old railway line. Perfect for dogs too. There are lots of benches for impromptu rests.

Transport & Parking

The car park is at the start if the walk. Brown tourist signs direct you from nearby roads. There are several blue badge spaces nearest to the path. I'm guessing buses pass nearby but I did not take note.

Access

3.5

There were benches along the route for someone with walking difficulties to take a breather. For a wheelchair user, paths from the car park to the top of the hill (take the path out of the car park, then take the first RH turning to wind your way up the hill) were well laid Tarmac and wound their way very gently up the hill. I had electric power and needed no assistance - I should imagine the gradient wouldn't present difficulties for someone pushing. Once at the top, the choice is back the same way or take the gravel path (ok to go down but. I should think very hard to come up that path). This then joined a levelish dirt path. Then out through the trees and a very short uphill section out onto the old railway line. This bit is again level and good quality and leads back to the base of the hill and ultimately the car park.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is a lively outdoor space and it's even more impressive that it's a reclaimed industrial site. Splendid views. Access is good and it's great you can get too such a high vantage point so easily.
