Venue Description

We are a mixed (mainly small animal) veterinary practice in a residential area on the edge of Bedford. We offer a very high standard of veterinary care with full hospitalisation facilities for dogs, cats and small pets with a veterinary nurse on site and a veterinary surgeon on call 24 hours a day. We have a substantial, purpose built, modern building. Our staff have received additional training in disability awareness and customer care and we look forward to welcoming new clients and their pets to our practice.

• Main entrance on the ground floor via a wide concrete ramp with solid handrail . External door is opened by pressing an assisted access wall control button. •Automatic door opening into the waiting room (same level) •Large, open waiting room with wooden seating and ample space for wheelchairs. . The reception desk is low level and easily accessible for wheelchairs .Non-slip, smooth, level medical flooring •The area is evenly and well-lit with overhead lighting from fluorescent lights and a great deal of natural light.

Staff

All staff have undergone specific customer care training. The practice values are to provide exceptional care in a friendly environment and staff are trained to freely offer assistance to all clients. Two members of staff have undertaken specific Disability Awareness and Autism Awareness training with Bedford Borough Council (K Nelson and S Gray)

Assistance dog exercise facilities

We have a large, enclosed garden accessible via wide, step free access from the car park for dogs to exercise or toilet. We are 0.4 miles from Bedford Park - a large park with grass and wooded areas and a flat, smooth, wide perimeter path.

Other assistance dog facilities

Water bowls and toileting area readily available for assistance dogs. Outstanding 24 hour veterinary care available on our own premises, staffed entirely by our own vets and nurses. We regularly work with Guide Dogs for the Blind, Canine Partners, Hearing Dogs.
