Venue Description

This impressive building was built for the Hon Robert Edward Ward and his family in 1852. It is presently the headquarters of Ards and North Down Borough Council who use the mansions spectacular grand salon as the council chamber. The building is situated in the grounds of Castle Park alongside North Down Museum and is just a short walk from Bangor Castle Walled Garden.

CS Lewis visited North Down on many occasions throughout his life and regularly returned to the area. He enjoyed the beautiful view over Belfast Lough from the grounds of Bangor Castle. As Lewis himself once said "Heaven is Oxford lifted and placed in the middle of County Down".
The Council deliver a 24 hour council services to residents, businesses and visitors.
Bangor Town Hall operate core hours. Our team of reception staff can direct you further to the department of choice.
Core office opening hours:
Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm; Friday 9am-4.30pm
Reception does not close for lunch.

There is level access to the desk/counter from the entrance. There is not a hearing assistance system.

Accessible toilet facilities are available in the main building Baby change and Standard toilet facilities are available. The accessible toilet is approximately 9m (9yd 2ft) from the accessible entrance. There is level access to this accessible toilet.

All front line staff are fully trained in Disability and JAM awareness The reception desk has Sign Video installed for those users who require BSL.
