Overview

Great apartment for two people with assisted wheelchair access. For my husband, on crutches indoors, it was ideal. The apartment was spotless and comfortable and exceptionally well equipped. The views over Lamlash Bay to Holy Isle were stunning. A great find for us.

Transport & Parking

There is a gently sloped ramp with flat parking area at the top. For our rather long car, the flat area was a little bit short but was very manageable. Travel to Arran was by Caledonian MacBrain ferry and they were most helpful providing parking on board close to the lift. Wheelchairs are available for passengers to use and disabled toilet was adequate.

Access

The apartment has Category 2 disabled access (assisted wheelchair users). A decking ramp leads up to the door and there is a seating area outside the door to enjoy the views.

Toilets

A raised over toilet seat was provided with rails on either side. An over bath shower was accessed with a bath stool. This might be difficult if unable to self transfer. A grab rail over the bath was provided. All spotlessly clean.

Staff

The owners, Iain and Margaret, could not have been more helpful and were keen to get feedback to make further improvements.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The view from the apartment is unbelievable. Feeders attract a constant stream of garden birds and frequent visits from red squirrels. The apartment is next door to the island's cottage hospital and well placed for visiting the rest of the beautiful island of Arran.
