Excellent
Really great to be able to get on the beach and move about which is impossible with standard manual wheelchair. Was able to push the beach wheelchair a little into the water too which was real fun.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
I had looked up the Facebook page of the venue so knew where it was and knew to look for the distinctive blue and white striped beach hut so easy for us to find.
Parking & Transport
Good
We were lucky as a space near the beach hut was vacated just upon our arrival but we did then notice two disabled spaces near the hut that were also free after we had parked. We drove from Edinburgh so quite easy for us to get there.
Accessible Toilets
0I don’t know whether or not there was an accessible toilet.
Staff
Excellent
It was the first day of the venture and the staff were great and apologetic for feeling they were not organised. It was fine for us!
Additional Information
I think the beach wheelchair project will continue to grow and develop. They are aware of the current limitations like no ramp into beach hut to store customers own wheelchairs when they are out on beach wheelchair but this is in hand. They may be able to have a bench to transfer and perhaps ultimately some sort of hoist system. It will also be good if there can be some sort of hooks or something on the beach wheelchairs to put bags on.
