TAXI If you are travelling by taxi, you could be dropped off on Colchester High Street or by the park gates at the end of Museum Street. More information regarding accessible transport can be found on the Visit Colchester website. TRAIN Colchester is just 58 minutes on the main train line from London or Norwich. Arriving at Colchester Main station, the museums are just a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride to the city centre. Arriving at Colchester Town station the museums are a 10 minute walk, up Queens Street and St Botolphs Street. BUS The museum is a 10 minute walk from the main bus station on Osborne Street. Alternatively, many Colchester bus routes stop along the High Street and the Castle is located at the far end. BICYCLE You can plan your journey by visiting cyclestreets.net. Bike racks can be found outside the Castle Park gates by Museum Street and along Colchester High Street.

Parking

Colchester Castle is situated just inside Castle Park, within Colchester’s city centre. A gravel pathway surrounds the building and takes you up to the main entrance. The road leading away from the park gates is Museum Street. It might appear like it is for pedestrians only, but cars are allowed to drive down it. There are 11 spaces for disabled badge holders just outside the park gates in Museum Street (100-200m from the entrance), and places slightly further away on the High Street.
