Overview

Gorgeous views, on good surface for the most part. Parked in public car park in Baslow- trail starts a few hundred yards from car park (from car park,go right and turn right immediately after crossing the little bridge). Visit the Tea Cottage in Edensor for refreshments and loo (the inside loo is disabled). Then back to Baslow. About two miles/50 minutes each way. The circular kissing gate is absolutely do’able for all but the biggest mobility scooter- we removed the add on power trike from my wheelchair.

Transport & Parking

Access by car was easy. Disabled bays in Baslow car park. NB blue badge holders must pay and display at time of writing. No information on public transport options.

Access

There was a novel circular kissing gate early in the walk, see photo/video. Had to strip my power trike down, then wheel me through, easy! some slightly bumpy sections but nothing too uneven. Slight incline/decline in a couple of places but nothing too hair raising. A couple of cattle grids when the pedestrian gate looked narrow. The bridge over the river in front of Chatsworth house was shared with cars, so I was glad to have someone with me to spot a safe gap. But the traffic was neither heavy or fast moving.

Toilets

In tea room at Edensor (see photo- not visited personally so can’t vouch for it myself!) Also at car park in Baslow. Did not visit, sorry.

Staff

Not staffed but rated on basis of helpfulness of tea room staff!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This probably needs some form of powered wheelchair with robust wheels especially after rain. See Peak District walks website for more information on this and other walks in the area. The car park is located on the south side of Baslow. Access the start of the walk by walking/wheeling out of the front of the car park, going right, then taking the little road to the right on the bend. Then over the little bridge and turn right onto the trail. Then follow the trail.
