Overview

Devilla Forest is a nice accessible forest trail between Dunfermline and Kincardine. Full of Scots Pine trees throughout makes it the perfect place to enjoy the red squirrel trail. Dragonflies and otters can be found around the lochs too.

Transport & Parking

There is a Forestry Commission car park with several disabled parking bays. Cars park on gravel/stones, but as a powerchair user, I exit my car from the back via a ramp so I don't find the stones an issue because I exit onto the tarmac. However, wheelchair users who exit the car via the side doors into a manual wheelchair may find the stones an issue. Once off the parking bay, you are on a tarmac path.

Access

The Red Squirrel Trail is accessible and as a powerchair user, I found the paths manageable. Most of the trail is flat, but there are some gentle slopes throughout which may be slightly more difficult for manual wheelchair users or people with walking difficulties. However, the trail is rated as 'easy' by the Forestry Commission. There are picnic benches scattered throughout and I was pleased to see that they had a cut out to allow wheelchair users to sit at the table too. Definitely taking a picnic the next time.

Toilets

There are no toilets at all in this forest. The nearest toilets would possibly be at one of the nearby towns such as Culross and Kincardine.

Staff

As this is a forest trail, I didn't see any staff or Rangers.
