Venue Description

One of the finest houses built in Scotland, Duff House is a magnificent Georgian mansion designed by William Adam. Standing in extensive parkland, today it houses a beautiful collection of paintings and furniture on loan from the National Galleries of Scotland and the Magdalene Sharpe Erskine Trust. There is no access to the shop or other ground floor areas due to maintenance works taking place. 1 Oct to 30 April: Fri to Sun Access by guided tour only. Tours are at 10.45am and 1.30pm, and includes a visit to the temporary exhibition. Tours last 90 minutes. 1 May to 30 Sep: Thu to Sun, 10am to 4.30pm (last entry 3.30pm). Guided tours available at 10.15am to 2pm, no advance booking required We recommend booking online in advance to guarantee entry.

Accessibility

Approach to site Approach to site is 20m over level pavings from the accessible parking spaces or 100m from the main car park. The paths are loose gravel and earth. Visitor centre Visitors enter on the ground floor. There are steps down into the area but a side door can be opened which avoids these. Monument There is a lift in the house allowing wheelchair access to all upper levels. Surroundings The area around the house is a gravel drive, with lawns beyond. Special features There is an introductory audio visual presentation available for visitors. It is not subtitled.
