Overview

The experience I had of Gatwick airport and its staff was a high excellent level of care. I was treated exceptionally well. I had warned both the airport and airline that I had extra medical supplies (I am fed by TPN which is a bag of food into my vein. I was treated so well, I would say first class. In customs I had no difficulties as I had a doctors letter clearly explaining my needs for fluids and sharps. I honestly feel if you prepare yourself the best you can then it helps, but I was still overwhelmed by the compassion and kindness shown to me.

Transport & Parking

There is a park and ride system that was excellent, the bus was accessible and the driver did everything he could to help.

Access

The facilities were excellent, getting to the desk I was taken away from the barriered area so it was much easier to check in.

Toilets

Clean, accessible and obvious signposted, there was enough toilet paper and hand wipes.

Staff

The staff could not have beeen more helpful or polite. I had to have a different wheelchair to get me onto the plane but Monach airline had actually not booked anyone in the jounrney in and back for no extra cost and this meant I could sleep during the flights which was important.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I was fortunate enough to see the aurora borealis. It is a bucket list thing, and both on my way out to Finland and back I felt treated with real respect, care and dignity. Every department we used on our outward and return flight were friendly, chatty, caring and polite. I really felt like I was a first classs passenger. They couldn't have done more, even the customs and excise people and the passport people were so friendly and approachable it really enhanced the experience.
