Movie Memories: Lilies of the Field (U)
Movie Memories is GFT's dementia-friendly film programme, designed to enable people living with dementia to socialise in a safe and social environment. Everyone is welcome. All tickets are £3 (includes free refreshments and live music).
Sidney Poitier plays Homer Smith, an ex-GI who takes a handyman job at a farm run by five German nuns. It is the dream of the Mother Superior (Lilia Skala) to build a chapel (or, as she says, a "shapel") and she is convinced that the personable Homer has been sent by God to help her realise her dream. This 1963 comedy drama was adapted by James Poe from a novel by William E. Barrett. Poitier won an Academy Award for Best Actor, the first African-American to do so.
Event starts: 10.45 (live music), event ends: 12.55.
