Overview

I arranged to meet a friend for lunch whilst in Edinburgh and we decided on having lunch at the cafe in Jenners on Princess Street. Jenners is not the usual place I would choose to visit due to the complex layout and multiple floors. However, Jenners is a Welcome App venue, created by Neatebox, so I was able to notify the venue of my assistance requirements before I arrived. I was met at the Rose Street entrance by a member of staff who introduced themselves and took me to the cafe. There is an accessible lift that can take you to each floor of the department store and the staff in the cafe sat me at a table where there was plenty room for my guide dog, Sam, and provided him with a bowl of water as well. Once I had finished my lunch the cafe staff then phoned to get a member of staff to assist me to the exit. Overall fantastic experience an accessible venue and very friendly and helpful staff.

Transport & Parking

Jenners is on Princess Street which is easily accessible from Waverley Station and is on a tram and bus route also. I travelled by train and was within a short walking distance from Waverley.

Access

A very accessible venue. Jenners is a Welcome App venue so visitors can download Welcome by Neatebox on iOS or Android and notify staff of their access requirements before arrival. A member of staff will meet you at the Rose Street entrance.

Toilets

There is an accessible toilet on the 3rd floor which can also be accessed via an accessible lift. I used the accessible toilet before I left and staff are more than happy to show you where it is.

Staff

Staff were informed prior to my visit that I am visually impaired and have a guide dog. All staff were very accommodating and extremely helpful.
