It's the only LGBT group in Dumfries and Galloway that I know of that hold regular sessions so I was really excited to finally join. However I was told that staff don't have training in evacuation chairs so wheelchair users can't join until they get training. This group has been about for years and it's a part of a larger organisation so it's not like they haven't had the time or money to pursue training before now. They have tried to find training since I showed interest in coming to sessions but have no date for it yet. They did hire an accessible location for a month but as I'm chronically ill and my health meant I couldn't attend they haven't booked it any longer instead wanting me to book in advanced on what weeks my chronic illness will allow me to attend 🙄(like most chronically ill folks I don't know if I can even get out of bed in a few hours time let alone days or weeks in advance.) Their normal meeting space is also several floors up and only has one lift which it regularly broken so it wouldn't be accessible even if they do receive training. I still hope to attend at some point and will update this if anything changes. I'd suggest checking with your local group if you want to start attending just incase they also didn't plan for Disabled members.
