National Trust Stoneywell
Polly Botts Lane, Markfield, LE67 9QE, United Kingdom | 01530248040 | WebsiteVenue Description
Zigzagging from its rocky outcrop, Stoneywell is the realisation of one man's Arts and Crafts vision within a family home. Original furniture and family treasures fill the cottage's quirky rooms and, outside, every turn conjures childhood memories of holiday excitement - one way to the fort, another to the woods beyond. Stoneywell is small (but perfectly formed), so all visitors need to pre-book their visit.
Accessibility
Set into the rocky landscape, the garden and cottage present challenges in creating all - in fact, the cottage is on seven different levels! Access to the cottage is either by guided tour or a self-led visit, when volunteers are on hand to provide assistance where required. Sensory bags, large print and Braille guides are available, and a virtual tour is in development. There is a small, accessible tearoom and a mixture of grass, gravel and tarmac paths around the garden. Full information about accessibility at Stoneywell is available on the website, and via AccessAble.
