Venue Description

Situated on campus at University of Leicester Students’ Union, O2 Academy Leicester opened its doors to both students and music-loving residents in the city in September 2010. Housed in the award-winning Percy Gee building, O2 Academy Leicester sits on one of the oldest sites on the main campus. O2 Academy Leicester is both a live music and club space, with three rooms that attract all kinds of artists from major acts to smaller on bands on the up and events cover a wide variety of genres.

Accessibility

The viewing area is located near the entrance, on the balcony and close to the stage. The platform can be reached by a level access lift. The area can accommodate up to 3 wheelchairs with 3 companion seats. There’s a large bar on the balcony level with a lowered service area and staff will be happy to assist. The merchandise stand is inside the auditorium for all shows, it's usually in Stalls via a set of steps. Any member of staff can provide assistance when required.

Awards List

The venue is signed up to Attitude Is Everything's Charter of Best Practice in 2006 and hold a silver certificate. More recently, the venue has become a CredAble Provider and supports the Access Card http://credability.uk.com/access-card/

Toilets

There are 2 accessible toilets - one on the balcony level and one on the stalls level which can be accessed by lift.

Staff

Staff have attended Disability Awareness training and are happy to assist as and when required and will always strive to ensure patrons have an enjoyable and stress free experience when visiting.
