Overview

Tourist mini train which travels along La Croisette, Cannes' sea front, and through Le Suquet, Cannes' hilly old town area. The train makes a 10 minute stop in the square outside Notre Dame to visit the church and see the views from the top of the hill.

Transport & Parking

The starting and finishing point for Le Petit Train de Cannes is on La Croisette near Palais des Festivals. The train station is about a 10 minute walk away, and it's on a slight slope down from the station to the sea front. There are also a number of buses that run along La Croisette or stop nearby. Sorry unable to comment about car parking, but assume it would be expensive given the location.

Access

The carriages of Le Petit Train de Cannes are quite high up. A member of staff was very helpful and got a step for me to stand on so I could get into the carriage. For me it took 3 steps one on top of each other to give me sufficient height to get onto the train. The step travelled with me and was used when we stopped mid way and for disembarking at the end of the tour. There are headphones to listen to the commentary in a number of different languages.

Staff

I asked the staff before I purchased a ticket if they had something to help me get into the carriage and he went to get me the steps. He was very patient and attentive as he returned to make sure I got in/ out at the midway stop and at the end of the journey.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

If you are able to get in and out of the carriage this is a good option if you want to explore Cannes. The tour takes about 1 hour and cost 10 euros (2017). The route travels along the entire length La Croisette and into Le Suquet, the old town, where it makes a stop for 10 minutes. The stop is in a large, flat square at the top of the hill. From their you can go into Notre Dame church, which has a very low step and then an internal door to access. Alternatively you can take in the views overlooking Cannes town and waterfront. There are about 10 - 15 steps up to a viewing platform (sorry I didn't make a better note of the number of steps) and there is a handrail on one side, and this provides better views. For me the tour let me see some of the old town as it would have been too steep for me to walk around otherwise and although it was a bit of a struggle getting in and out of the carriage it was doable and the staff were helpful and I really enjoyed the tour.
