Venue Description

Re-created Scottish Renaissance walled garden with vibrant floral designs and Museum of Farming Life Be amazed at over 30,000 annual bedding plants that make up the colourful designs in the parterres. Visit the Museum of Farming Life which brings the agricultural past to life. Admire our young orchard as well as the historical espalier apple trees which line our garden walls. Explore the woodland around the garden on the way marked trails. Brilliant design in the form of vibrant colours and meticulously manicured shapes give Pitmedden Garden its unique charm. With almost 6 miles of clipped hedging, sculptures and built heritage, the parterres at the heart of the garden are a masterpiece of intricate patterns and fragrant flowers. In 2021 we re imagined the upper terrace parterre for the modern world with a fresh, sustainable garden. A biodiverse, species-rich meadow weaves and drifts, offering changing patterns and colours. Combined with our orchard of more than 200 fruit trees, Pitmedden really is a delight for the senses.

Accessibility

Assess is through the shop/tearoom. Visitors will need to negotiate steps between garden levels. For wheelchair users ask a member of staff for safe access which, entails a varied pathway. As mentioned in the introduction pathways, are wheelchair friendly in terms of width, in the garden pathways are mainly gravel and grass. There are two fountains within the historical garden, one is at ground level. There is seating in both the upper and lower garden areas.

Toilets

There is an assisted toilet within the main house. Wide enough for wheel chair access. Ask a member of staff regarding access.
