Overview

Very much as you expect from this hotel brand name the hotel is just on the outskirts of the town and is only a few minutes away from the channel tunnel if you are travelling by car. The hotel is split between two building the main building and annex the reception is located trough two sets of doors in the main building in the left hand corner. This building also gives access to the restaurant area. The annex is almost directly opposite the main building and is ramped access. Your room key card allows you to open the main door to this building the door opens outwards inwards once through this there is a second door that opens inwards before you access the bedroom area. There is a good size lift in the annex to get to the upper floor. The reception area is in operation 24 hours a day if you need advice etc. if you have opted for Breakfast it is served in the Brickfield inn that is part of this complex and is attached to the main building if you are in the annex then you access this by going out via the ramp and crossing the small road in to the car park as a result there is no cover if it is raining. The seating in the Brickfield is on dinning room chairs the type with out arms these can be moved out of the way to allow a wheelchair in to the space. You can also have lunch and dinner in the Brickfield at additional costs. A sign on the wall on the way in to the Brickfield indicates that the staff have disability awareness The room we had allowed a wheelchair to move around freely there were two chairs in the room an arm type chair that might be low for many people and a standard dinning room chair at the work station desk in the room.

Transport & Parking

3.5

There are a number of Blue Badge spaces these are outside the Brickfield Inn and are shared with the hotel the reception area for the hotel is to the left and just around the corner. There are two spaces in front of the main building that people can use when checking in or out these are not marked as Blue Badge spaces.. We did note a number of local buses in the area going to and from the local retail park but were unable to check this out there are also a number of Taxi firms in the area

Access

3

Access to the room we had was clear and with out difficulty the room, there was the branding type products around the bed and in the room. The door to the room had two spy holes one at an average height and one at a wheelchair level. There was also an emergency cord next to the bed as the room was an wheelchair accessible. The were red cords in the bathroom and grip rails around the bath and shower which are one and the same. I was a bit disappointed to find out that this venue did not have any wet rooms on this site and the nearest hotel with this type of facility was some distance away

Toilets

3.5

There is one wheelchair accessible toilet in the Brickfield Inn other than the room facilities this is located next to the ladies and gents the door opens outwards and the red cord was all the way to the floor. As per normal this is also the baby change facility as well.

Staff

4.5

The staff in the hotel made us welcome and were friendly the staff in the Brickfield are also very welcoming and in both cases will give you there name etc

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This hotel is near the channel tunnel and as a result can get very busy most of the time. it was very disappointing that there was no wet room available as it would be a major benefit to this venue if you are having breakfast as part of your order the staff will take an order for a cook breakfast everything else is laid out and you help your self.
